Shaykh Lock’s academic journey reflects a strong foundation in Arabic language and Islamic studies. He holds a BA in Arabic and History from the University of Leeds, an MA in Arabic Linguistics from King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London.
As a dynamic speaker, Shaykh Lock frequently engages with global audiences through online platforms and in-person events. He also leads online study circles, including the Halaqah Book Club, fostering interactive learning in Islamic sciences.
Among his notable contributions are translations of Kitāb al-Ḥalāl wa al-Ḥarām by Imam al-Ghazālī, Sharḥ al-Ṣudūr by Imam al-Suyūṭī, and nearly 2,000 pages of Khawāṭir by Imam Muḥammad Mutawallī ash-Shaʿrawī (published at elsharawyreflections.com). For Nawa Books, he has rendered key texts like Al-Wāfī: A Thorough Commentary on the Forty Nawawiyyah and several volumes from Imam Muḥammad Saʿīd Ramaḍān al-Būṭī’s Pinnacle Papers series, including Man and Allah’s Justice on Earth and Islam and the Problems of the Youth. Additionally, he translated The Rights of the Husband and Wife by Shaykh ʿAbdul Hādī al-Kharsah and Remembrances & Etiquettes of The Prophet ﷺ.
